Privacy Policy
The short version
- No account, no ads, no tracking, and we never sell data.
- Inlaid has no servers of its own.
- Your health data, calendars, reminders and photos stay on your iPhone and Apple Watch.
- Weather and Sun & Moon send a place rounded to about a kilometer to Apple Weather and Apple Maps. Otherwise, the only thing sent anywhere is an anonymous count of which kinds of widgets are used, and you can turn it off.
Who we are
Inlaid is an app for iPhone and Apple Watch that makes widgets. In this policy, “Inlaid”, “we” and “us” mean the app and the people who make it. You can reach us at support@inlaid.app.
No account, no ads, no tracking
You don’t sign up for Inlaid, and we don’t ask for your name, email or phone number. Inlaid shows no ads, doesn’t track you across apps or websites, and never sells or rents data to anyone. Inlaid has no servers of its own: there is no Inlaid database holding anything about you.
Your data stays on your devices
To show what you ask for, Inlaid reads information on your device, with your permission. The widgets themselves also read it on your device.
- Apple Health. Steps, Activity, sleep, heart data and the other Health metrics you choose to show. Inlaid’s own Sleep Score and Readiness are worked out on your devices from this data.
- Calendars and reminders. Your events, reminders and lists, for the widgets that show them.
- Photos. Only the photos you pick for a widget. Each one is copied into Inlaid’s own storage on your device so the widget can show it.
This information stays on your iPhone and Apple Watch. The two share data with each other directly, using Apple’s WatchConnectivity, not through us. We never receive your health data, calendars, reminders or photos.
iOS asks before Inlaid can read any of these, and you can change your answer at any time in the Settings app.
Location
Inlaid uses your location only for Weather and Sun & Moon widgets, and only when you set one up. The place is rounded to about 1 kilometer and stored on your device. Weather forecasts come from Apple Weather (WeatherKit) for that rounded place, and the place’s name comes from Apple Maps. Apple’s own privacy policy covers those requests. Widgets never ask for your location.
Anonymous usage counts
To learn which kinds of widgets people actually use, and so what to improve and make next, Inlaid sends anonymous counts to TelemetryDeck, a privacy-first analytics service. This is on by default, and you can turn it off at any time in Inlaid under Settings › Privacy. Only three kinds of counts are sent:
Picked: WeatherThe kinds you choose when you first open Inlaid.Made: Weather, Forecast designIts kind and design, not what it shows. In use: Weather, Lock ScreenSo we know which places people use. Each count comes with a random install identifier made on your device, which is hashed before it’s sent. It lets two iPhones count as two, and it can’t be traced back to you.
Never sent: health data or any numbers; names, notes, lists or anything you type; calendars, reminders or photos; your location; your Apple Account, email or contacts.
The counts are not used for ads or tracking and are not shared with anyone else. You can read how TelemetryDeck handles data in TelemetryDeck’s privacy policy.
Updates
Updates (notifications you design) are scheduled on your device. They aren’t sent through any server of ours.
Suggest a Widget and email
Suggest a Widget opens your Mail app with a message to support@inlaid.app. Nothing is sent unless you choose to send it. If you do, we receive your email address and whatever you wrote, and use it only to read and reply to your message. The same goes for any email you send us.
Purchases
Inlaid Pro is bought through Apple. Apple handles the payment, and Inlaid never sees your payment details. Inlaid only learns from Apple whether Pro is active on your Apple Account, so it can unlock it.
Children
Inlaid is not directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your choices
- Turn off anonymous counts in Inlaid under Settings › Privacy.
- Change or remove Inlaid’s access to Health, calendars, reminders, photos and location in the Settings app.
- Delete Inlaid to remove everything it stored on your devices.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we’ll post the new version on this page with a new effective date.
